- ✓ Direct link in one click
- ✓ No sign-up
- ✓ Auto-expiring, moderated uploads
Free image hosting without the clutter
ImgDrop is the quickest way to put a picture online. Drop, paste or pick an image and you get a direct link that works everywhere — chats, emails, forums, GitHub issues, documentation, test fixtures and CMS fields. There’s no account to create and nothing to install.
How to upload an image and get a link
- Drag images onto the box, click to choose files, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl/⌘ + V.
- Choose when the link should expire — 1 hour, 1 day, 7 days or 30 days.
- Copy the direct link, viewer page, HTML, Markdown or BBCode.
- Keep the delete link if you might want to remove the image early.
Safe, temporary and private by default
- Automated safety review. Every image is checked before it goes live; anything against the content rules never gets a link.
- Links expire. Choose 1 hour to 30 days. Expired images are deleted from storage, not just hidden.
- Metadata removed. GPS location, camera serial numbers and editing history are stripped before upload.
- Unlisted. Viewer pages aren’t indexed by search engines and image IDs can’t be guessed — only people you share the link with can find it.
Built for sharing and testing
- Every format you need — direct link, viewer page, HTML, Markdown, BBCode and linked forum code.
- Batch uploads — up to 10 images at a time, with “copy all” for galleries.
- Animated GIF and WebP stay animated.
- Script-friendly — upload with one curl command.
- Placeholders — need a dummy image? The placeholder generator makes one of any size from a URL.

Frequently asked questions
Is ImgDrop free?
Yes. There’s no account, no watermark and no fee. Clearly labeled sponsors keep the service free.
How long do links last?
You choose 1 hour, 1 day, 7 days (the default) or 30 days when you upload. When the time is up the image is deleted automatically and the link stops working. ImgDrop does not offer permanent hosting.
Can I delete an image before it expires?
Yes. Each upload comes with a one-time delete key and delete link. Save it — we only store a hash of the key, so we can’t show it to you again. This browser also remembers your recent uploads so you can delete them from the upload page.
Is my photo’s location removed?
Yes. Before upload, ImgDrop strips EXIF, GPS, camera and XMP metadata from JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF files in your browser, and the server strips it again. The pixels are not re-compressed unless the photo needs rotating or is too large.
Why was my image blocked?
Every upload is checked by an automated safety review before it gets a public link. Nudity, sexual content, anything sexualizing minors, gore, hate symbols, scams, fake documents, ID and payment cards, and illegal goods are not allowed. Repeated violations pause uploads from your connection for 24 hours.
Which formats and sizes are supported?
JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF (including animated) and AVIF, up to 10 MB and 40 megapixels each. Very large photos are optimized automatically so they upload quickly. SVG, HEIC and other formats are not accepted.
